What's Better Than the Easter Bunny?

My weekend.

It was pretty epic.

Here's the deal: basically, I don't get out much, so if you ask me if I've seen this movie or seen so-and-so in concert or heard of some new awesome place that everyone hangs out at, the answer is 99% of the time going to be no. But let me start with the beginning of the week.

I was out of school all week except for Monday due to standardized testing that seniors don't have to take, and Good Friday, so I finally had some time to catch up on some stuff that I'd gotten behind on. Like cleaning my room. It was kind of a disaster area, which means that I had been spending very little time in my room because I can't focus in an unstructured environment. So I spent Tuesday evening cleaning and reorganizing everything and now I can sleep soundly at night once more. :)

I also did a lot of stuff on Wednesday, because I knew that the rest of my week was going to be full. And this is where it starts getting exciting.

On Thursday we had a Lord's Supper at our church, and I was given the opportunity (along with some other high school students) to sing in the choir for the service! It was really cool. And if you think that sounds too good to be true, it was. I totally tripped up the stairs on my way on stage. (Be honest--are you really surprised?)

The good thing was I was still mostly back stage and there weren't that many people seated yet. You would have had to be looking right where I was to notice. I'm just grateful I didn't fall on the drum set or anything. THAT would have been embarrassing.

After the service I could have gone to a really awesome passover that my friend was having, but I decided to go home instead because I had to get up early to take some senior pictures. Which was not fun at all. I will not be a model. I don't understand how they manage doing uncomfortable poses and getting their picture taken all day. Not for me, BUT a couple of the pictures turned out really well. Here's our favorite:

This is where the weekend gets epic. After the pictures I met up with about 15 friends and we all headed to SIX FLAGS! Where I hadn't been in about 4 years. We only got to go on about three rides though before we headed to the amphitheater for my very first concert!

The bands that were playing Friday night were Ivoryline (pretty good), Fireflight (so jealous of the girl's voice--she was right on every note), The Rocket Summer (aka the most talented guy EVER), and Family Force 5 (extremely entertaining). Rocket Summer was probably my favorite, though FF5 put on a great show.

 The Rocket Summer. Amazing.

Family Force 5. Sorry you can't see them, I promise they're there.

Saturday I slept in, and then later in the afternoon met up with about 5 friends this time to go to Six Flags again for the second day of Christian Youth Weekend. We only rode two rides this time, because we got there later in the day and wanted to get to the concert in time to get better seats.

And we got worse seats. But we were able to move up later because there were some empty rows closer up. The bands the second night were awesome: House of Heroes, Run Kid Run, and Relient K. Of course, I knew House of Heroes the best. I didn't really pay attention to Run Kid Run. Relient K was a lot of fun even though I only knew one song. haha

 House of Heroes

And last but most definitely not least...Relient K!

I decided that concerts are fun and I should go to more. I had a ton of fun. And I'll try to dance next time...everyone tried to get me to but I didn't know what to do...it was my first concert. I felt awkward. But now I (kind of) know what to do so I'll be sure to dance next time. ;)

Then today of course was Easter Sunday. I went to church this morning where I had a fabulous breakfast (we serve breakfast every Easter) and met a lady who knew we were the church for her when she saw us handing out water bottles on the street with a dancing Easter bunny. Yep, that's my church for ya!

I helped with one of the Easter egg hunts we put on for the kids every year, and then went to my regular serving position on Sundays with the elementary school girls. One of my girls made me a bracelet that said "Miss Kayla Rocks" on it. Isn't that so sweet? I love gifts from kids. It didn't fit though, so I'm making it into a bookmark.

Then I had dinner with my familia where my banana pudding was a big hit and my grandma sat on me. Don't ask. My family is weird. (Please, NEVER come over if we are not expecting you...goodness knows what you might walk in on.)

Now I'm just chilling out and not wanting to go to school tomorrow...but at least I have some things to look forward to (and you can look forward to them as well, as I will definitely be posting pictures!). Next weekend is the Mud Run with some people from work! My strategy is to take my time and stop if I get tired. Maybe chill out in some mud. Possibly start a mud fight. But my goal is to not stay clean, because I don't think that would happen even if I tried.

The weekend after that is PROM! I don't even have to explain why that's exciting. I also have a recital that weekend with my singing group. (That sounds so official but it's really just me and three other girls who have been taking voice lessons together).

Then in May is my school play and of course, graduation. I got all my graduation gear last week so now I'm official...can't wait to wear it!

Then I'm pretty much gone the whole month of June so you won't hear much from me...sorry, but I'll be back first thing in July. :)

And this post is super long so I'll stop now.

How did you celebrate Easter? What exciting things do have coming up in the next few months? Does the Easter bunny freak you out, too?

This is me with my arch-nemesis, the Easter bunny.
